How are you doing?

When we are asked this question, do we give an honest answer? What I found really encouraging was when my friend in Germany spoke to me openly about his struggles in his life, it actually encouraged me more than when I heard a perfect story from someone. I found it was encouraging because my problems did not seem to be the only problems in the world and that there was someone who was with me in them. I have been composing a song entitled ‘Beautiful Misery’ and the beauty does not come from the absence of the misery but from the enduring in it with a friend. Now, how would you answer the next person who asked you, ‘How are you doing’?
